Adding Navigation Squares
Due to popular demand this guide will outline the steps required to add the fancy square coloured navigation buttons to any firefly page.
These are great for filling an empty page that has lots of subpages with more content!
Step 1 - Enter Editing Mode
Find the page that you wish to add the navigation items to and click on the edit button in the bottom right corner.
Step 2 - Add the Navigation Widget
At the top of the page in the black bar, click on the more... drop down arrow to show the full list of widgets that you can add to a page.
Click on Navigation icon to add the widget, a wizard will now pop up to ask you how you want the buttons to look.
Step 3 - Links or Subpages
- If you want the widget to automatically link to all the subpages then leave it on the default.
- Alternatively you can choose link to individual sites that will allow you to customise every button manually. This is great for linking to external websites.
Note that it will not let you automatically link to sub pages unless you have already created at least one subpage!
Step 4 - Choose your Style
Choose from one of the following styles of buttons:
- Patterns - Easiest to use and looks great with lots of topics or subpages with long names.
- Icons - Allows you to choose from a list of icons for each of the buttons
- Images - Allows you to upload a picture for each of the buttons (Very time consuming but can look great)
Step 5 - Enjoy your new Navigation Widget
You can always edit the widget afterwards by selecting it and clicking on the settings icon in the top right of the widget.
