Attaching Files for Easy Viewing and Printing

With the increase of remote learning, we have had a lot of feedback from pupils and parents that are strugling either to preview which file they need, or cannot download the file at all to print.  This guide outlines the steps you can take to make your tasks as use friendly for the pupils as possible.

Embed Files in the Description, Avoid using just Attachments

When you attach a file it simply lists the file name at the end of the task, this makes it hard for pupils to see what the file contains without downloading it and taking them away from the task at hand.

The best way is to use the File button in the Description of the Task.

You can see in the screenshot below how this then previews the file and allows the pupil to still download the file, where the same file in attachments is just the file name.

Pictures are hard to print! Convert them to PDF or Word First, then Embed

Sometimes you have just pictures of the worksheets you want to use.  Make sure you convert them to PDF or paste them into a word document before sharing.  This will make it much better for printing and help standardise your tasks.  Open a blank word document, drag the picture in and resize it to the full page then save as a word file.

Feedback from parents in junior School in particular is that they are struggling to work out how to print pictures from tasks, this will help massively!

Top Tip - Use Microsoft Lens with your phone camera to take pictures of worksheets and books but save them straight to PDF and fix any rotation and cropping issues!
