2-Factor Authentication
We are implementing 2-factor authentication for iSAMS, an additional layer of security, for staff deemed "high-risk users"*.
*SLT/SMT, Pastoral Heads, Office Administrators, Admissions & Marketing, Bursary, Finance, HR, Medical, Boarding Staff, and Teaching Staff. User groups with minimal access to iSAMS will not need to authenticate their accounts.
If you are a member of a group deemed high-risk, you will need to link your account to an authenticator app (Microsoft) on your phone/other device. This helps ensure you’re the only person who can access your iSAMS account. Once 2FA has been enabled for your account, you will not be able to access iSAMS off-site until you have set up authentication.
If you are unsure whether you have already set 2FA or not, check Microsoft authenticator on your phone. You will have an account named iSAMS if you have!

iSAMS 2-Factor Authentication - set up
When you first log-in to iSAMS, you will be required to set up 2-factor authentication, an additional layer of security, linking your iSAMS account to an authenticator app (Microsoft) on your phone/other device. This helps ensure you’re the only person who can access your iSAMS account.
Initial set-up
Log-out of iSAMS
Log-in to iSAMS and a verification code will be sent to your school email.
Enter the code in to iSAMS and it will give you a QR code.
Open Microsoft Authenticator (app on phone) and Add a new account (+ button at top right). (You will already have one for Office 365. You need a new one for iSAMS)
Scan the QR code.
Enter the code the app gives you in to iSAMS.
You are now set up!

Then...
- Enter the code the authenticator gives you in to iSAMS.
You are now connected. :)

Authenticating when working from home (off the trusted school network).
- Log-in to iSAMS and you will be asked for a code.
- Open the authenticator app and enter the code it gives you in to iSAMS. The code is refreshed every 30 seconds.
You can ask to be remembered for 7 days.

New phone?
- Raise a ticket with the IT Helpdesk and your authentication will be reset.
- Go back to initial set-up.
