Grades
Grade reports are the go to reports to track progress of pupils against baseline data. You can quickly see which pupils are under or over performing compared to baseline data. These replace the traditional progress tracking spreadsheets and should be checked regularly.
Subjects
In the sample shown above we have a lot of information to digest. For each subject there is a Latest Basedata column. This column represents the most recent comparable baseline data that we have on each pupil for that subject.
The next set of columns that represent grades entered as part of the school reporting cycles. These are grouped by term and then by the type of grade. See the Abbreviations page for full details on the grade names.
Average
This column will take all the available data for each subject and produce an average for each baseline data grade and for each school reporting point. This allows you to quickly see how a pupil is performing across all subjects. Note that being an average they could be performing above target in one subject and well below in another and this would show them as being on target when averaged out.
Target/Grade Highlighting
Each grade is then highlighted based on the difference between it and the latest basedata. A whole number counts as +1 or -1. Where ever a grade is coloured there will be a scale displayed in the top right of the report that shows how the colours are assigned. The sample below is used most widely across the School.
Where split grades are available, e.g. B - B/A - A/B - A they are treated in that order and numerically represent a whole grade, 1/3 of a grade, 2/3 of a grade.
Some useful settings for this report
- Colours and Formatting - Only highlight the current terms grades - this will make it easier to focus on the most recent data only
- Colours and Formatting - Only highlight Grades 2 Below Target - this will only show grades that meet the threshold of 2 grades below target. Often this is used to trigger intervention plans.
- Data - Collapse Baseline Grades - Un-ticking this setting will force the report to show all baseline data no matter how old. This can be useful for checking when the baseline grade prediction was made and what testing it was made from, e.g. MidYIS/Alis/Yellis.
- Filters - Subject - Use this to show just a single subject, this is useful to remove the noise if you are only interested in a single subject.
