Printing Costs

Each year the School spends over £25,000 on printing alone and uses the equivalent of 13 trees worth of paper!

Each printer in the School has sightly different costs depending on how new it is and how big it is.  Papercut will give you an estimate of the printing costs (with Any Copier this will be based on the most expensive device) but the accurate cost will only be calculated once you release the print job on a printer.  The cost is also effected by things such as duplex printing and the size of the paper.  The cost includes the cost of the paper to the School, which now makes up the majority of the cost.

Don't choose colour, RIOCH charge 10x as much as black

Everyone loves a multi-coloured spreadsheet, but all that colour comes at a cost.  Think before you print if you really must have that in colour or whether black will do. 

Use Duplex

By printing in duplex (both sides of the page) you can save the cost of one sheet of paper, which is now the majority of the cost.  When printing this will be deducted off the total of the print job.  All printers should be set to duplex by default.

Avoid A3, it's twice as expensive!

The size of the print effects the cost. All costs are quoted for A4, A3 is double the cost of A4 so make sure you think before printing in A3 whether it is necessary.

Use a lower cost photocopier

We charge you exactly what each device costs the school per page. Newer and larger copiers typically are much cheaper to use. HP printers and older RICOH copiers cost the most money to use.

High Cost Printers

These are old , low volume printers located in offices and some area's.  They are slow and very expensive to run.
