Enabling Office 365 Password Reset Self Service

In order to increase security and convenience for users we are enabling Office 365 Password Resets.  This will allow you to change your password using Office 365 or use the forgotten my password option to recover your password if working remotely.

This is also a key step towards us enabling Windows Hello on surface devices so they can automatically recognise your face to log you in or use a pin!

When we enable this functionality you MUST add at least two Multi-Factor Authentication options to your office account.  The next time you try to access Office 365 it will not let you proceed until you have added two options and may ask you to re-enter your password.  For most people the easiest options are:

  • A mobile phone number
  • A personal email address (only to be used when verifying who you are if resetting your password)

To help prepare for this change you can use the link below to add your mobile phone number before the change goes live. Your email address you will have to add on the 1st of February.

The links below contain guides on how to setup Multi-Factor Authentication and how you will be able to change your password in the future.
