House Teams

Each House will have its own team created.  The purpose of this Team is to provide a central place for conversations and collaboration for the house.  The House Tutor and Deputy Head (Outreach) will be the only staff with ownership of the Team and will be responsible for managing and moderating each House Team.

Initial Setup

As house tutor, you will be responsible for managing who is in your House Team and adding new pupils and staff.

Step 1 - Add every staff member and pupil as members of your House team.  See this guide for help on how to do this.

Do not add staff members as "Teachers"  for the purpose of the Team everyone but you is a student

Step 2 - You now need to do a similar step for the two private channels in your Team.  One for pupils and one for Staff.  You can click on the dots next to each channel and go to add members.  Again make sure you add everyone as students. 

Channels and Permissions

There are three channels in each House Team:

• General - Visible to everyone in the House, staff and pupils.
• Pupils - Visible to House Tutors and pupils.
• Staff - Visible to House Tutors and staff.

You can use these channels to target your announcements and conversations to the correct groups of people in your house.

General

Only House Tutors and the Deputy Head (Outreach) can post new messages here.  Anyone in the house can then reply.

Pupils

Any pupil can start a conversation here and @mention the whole channel to notify people. House Tutors will be responsible for moderating conversations here and keeping an eye on things.

Staff

Any staff member in the house can start a conversation here.  Again the house Tutor should moderate and manage the conversations that happen here.

Notifying the House

Use "@Rendall" in any conversation in the general channel to notify everyone in the house.  Alternatively use @Staff in the staff channel to notify staff and @Pupils in the pupils channel.  If you do not use an @Mention then people will see the message but will not be notified via email.

Maintenance

As House Tutor you will have to manage the list of pupils and staff in your house and remember to add them to the correct channels.  Network Services are working on a way to automate this process in the future.
