Sanderson (Years 9-11)

 Introducing Sanderson House

Sanderson house supports boarders through their formative years; allowing them the space and facilities to gain independence, the opportunities to try new things and the guidance to become confident individuals.

I get to work with my friends during prep time. I have a stronger relationship with my friends and I enjoy no commute! I love having responsibility and independence.” (Yr11 Boarder).

Boarding at Badminton gives the girls wonderful opportunities to use the facilities outside of the school day. Including the art and music blocks, swimming facilities and fitness suite. Sanderson enjoys carrying out excellent trips and activities for the girls to take part in, including roller disco, air hop, outdoor pursuits, theatre trips, t-shirt designing, bunting making, spa treatments and many more.

“Boarding is a place where there are many opportunities for my further development” (Yr10 Boarder).

The Sanderson team includes two Housemistresses, two Deputy Housemistresses, and three Graduate Boarding Assistants. Collectively the team specialise in Art, Psychology, English, Engineering, Mathematics and Languages; enabling the girls intellectual curiosity to flow into the evenings and weekends. The girls always have someone in the house to turn to if they need advice, support or encouragement. Additionally the boarding house allows the girls to make friends across the year groups.

The house staff are really lovely and supportive." (Yr9 Boarder).

We are one big family and I can always find someone to talk to” (Yr11 Boarder).

Sanderson prides itself on celebrating the girls’ uniqueness and diversity. We celebrate festivals from around the world whilst promoting British values. Moreover, we encourage the girls to become secure in themselves, independently minded whilst having the curiosity to learn new skills and try new experiences.

This is the epitome of the wider society. We are like a family, this is like our home. (Yr10 Boarder).

The girls in Sanderson thoroughly enjoy boarding because …

“You can go from having no sisters to having 30+ just by coming back. I really like how you always have someone there you can talk to" (Yr9 Boarder)

“I’m able to spend quality time with my friends in a homely environment whilst still being able to focus and study for my GCSE’s. The staff are also really kind and helpful which makes being away from home a lot easier” (Yr11 Weekly boarder).
