Meet our team
In the Sixth Form Centre, we have a great team to help the students as best as we can. We are comprised of our Head of Sixth Form, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, Higher Education Coordinator, Housemistress, two Deputy Housemistresses, two Graduate Boarding Assistants and two Sixth Form Administrators.
Mr Avis: Head of Sixth Form
Hola, my name is Mr Avis and I am the Head of Sixth Form. I also teach Spanish. I have worked here since Spring 2017. I studied in Bristol at school and university during which I spent a year living in Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northern Spain. I graduated from Bristol University in Spanish & Drama and since then I have spent 11 years teaching in and around Bristol and love to include my passion for Music and Drama in my teaching!
Miss Reeder: Assistant Head of Sixth Form (Pastoral)
Hello, I am Miss Reeder and I am the Pastoral lead for the Sixth Form. I am also the Head of Psychology. In the past I have also enjoyed being a Deputy Housemistress in Sanderson, an EPQ Coordinator and a Teacher of Biology. I have a degree in Psychology and have previously been a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford’s Department of Psychiatry. Here I conducted research into addiction. In my spare time I enjoy playing netball and keeping fit, watching horror and sci-fi films and travelling as much as possible! I live in Bristol with my partner and our two oriental cats – Ripley (named after Ellen Ripley from Alien) and Oksana (named after Killing Eve as she is feisty!) I very much have an open door policy so do come and say hello!
Mr Sapsford: Higher Education and Professional Guidance Officer
Hello, I am Mr Sapsford and I work closely with both Upper and Lower Sixth across their entire time in the Sixth Form. After studying my A Levels in a Boarding School in Germany, I secured a Bursary from the Royal Air Force to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. After graduating with a BEng, I served 16 years as an Engineering Officer, where I was responsible for leading the maintenance operations of Tornado aircraft as well as coordinating upgrades to Typhoon aircraft. In the latter part of my career I undertook a Technology-based MSc at the Defence Academy and specialised in explosive safety.
I am married to Mrs Sapsford (Teacher of English at Badminton) and we have 2 young girls and a very hairy dog called Walter.
I am passionate about helping you prepare for your first steps for life after Badminton School. That includes helping you research your options and preparing applications that show case your talents in the very best light! I am always happy to talk to you about my own career and Higher Education experiences - so please come and say hello!
Mrs Davies: Housemistress
Miss Stokes: Deputy Housemistress
Miss Baker: Deputy Housemistress
Miss Child: Graduate Boarding Assistant
Hi! I’m Miss Child, one of the GBA’s for the Sixth Form Centre. I graduated from the University of Manchester last Summer where I studied English Literature & History. I loved the freedom my degree gave me to focus on my areas of interest – American history and gender studies. In my free time I love getting out and about. I’m a keen runner, my favourite runs always involve friends, chatting and a pastry or two! I also love to travel and will definitely be using the holidays to get my beloved purple backpack out of the cupboard. During my time at Badminton I’m really looking forward to getting involved with all the fantastic activities, trips and events we have planned. I was a boarder for 8 years and have worked in boarding since, so I know how important it is to balance academics with co-curriculars!
Miss Woodward: Graduate Boarding Assistant
Hi, I’m Miss Woodward and I am one of the Graduate Boarding Assistants working in the Sixth Form Centre. I studied English at the University of Bristol, having graduated earlier this year, and predictably enough, I am an avid reader – I even write a little myself when I find the time. My other interests include crochet/knitting and long walks, especially with my dog back home in Devon. I also did ballet for many years growing up, although in a somewhat amateur capacity! In the past I have worked part-time in various hospitality roles, but I am interested in a career somewhere in education, and as such I am looking forward to gaining experience whilst working in 6FC, and at the same time getting to know the students and helping them feel supported, cared for and uplifted in their final years of schooling.
