Year 7 Scholarships

Listed below are the scholarships and awards that are offered for entry into Year 7 at Badminton School for September 2025. Applications are open to both  external candidates who have completed the registration form (on the website) and current Badminton Year 6 girls.

 The scholarship application must be received at Badminton School by Wednesday 11 December 2024 along with the online registration (external candidates only).

Scholarship enntrance assessment papers and interviews for entry in September 2025 will be held at Badminton following our wider assessment day on Saturday 18 January.

Candidates may apply for only one scholarship or award unless applying for an Academic Scholarship when we will accept a second application in another category, only one will be awarded.

Academic Scholarship

Badminton's Academic Scholarships are awarded to pupils who show academic talent, enjoy learning and demonstrate intellectual curiosity. 

Academic Scholarships in Year 7 are awarded on the basis of performance in the Year 7 entrance examinations and interview.  There is no need to apply for this award. 

Music Scholarship

The Music Scholarship is for pupils  who are passionate about the importance of music and work to ensure it plays a key role in the life of the school. Candidates are expected to have achieved at least Grade 4 standard in their first instrument.   Candidates who may not be Grade 4 in their first instrument but  who can give evidence of exceptional commitment and musical potential are also encouraged to apply. 

Candidates are required to do the following:

  • Music audition in two instruments or one instrument plus voice. The audition should consist of two contrasting pieces on the candidate's first instrument/voice, and one piece on any other instrument / voice. Candidates should state which pieces of music they will be performing on the application form.
  • Interview  with the Director of Music - this will be part of the audition process

All Rounder Scholarship 

The All Rounder Scholarship  acknowledges achievement or potential in a wide range of different areas, achievements can be in school or out of school. 

Candidates are required to do the following:

  • Present a portfolio of their achievements during an interview  with a member of the Senior Leadership Team that will demonstrate their commitments and successes in  sports, music, drama or other extra curricular activities .

Drama Scholarship 

A Drama Scholar will have a passion for theatre and all types of performance. They will have a strong interest in performance and will be expected to take part in the School productions.

Candidates are required to do the following:

  • Perform a monologue from a published play of the candidates choice. The monologue should be between 1 and 2 minutes long and should be performed off-book with a copy provided for the audition.
  • A  interview with the Head of Drama about the candidate's drama experiences.
