Here at Badminton we are fortunate to be located in an area that has much to offer our girls to enhance their learning and development. Lectures, talks, seminars, demonstrations and cultural events are held regularly at Bristol Institutions such as universities, galleries, museums or events such as the Bristol Festival of Ideas and Bristol Festival of Economics, to name but a few.
One of the roles of the Sixth Form is to help girls start to manage their own time, and to develop a sense of independence and responsibility for themselves. In order to help girls with this transition and preparation for University and post-school life, we like to encourage the girls to take advantage of the opportunities within the Bristol locality as much as possible throughout the academic year; ideally at least once a month, should their work commitments allow it. This may involve them leaving the School during the day or in the evening and travelling by local bus, taxi or on foot, to perhaps eat out and attend such an event either on their own or in small groups.
The requirement is that girls will have sought permission from either the Head of Sixth Form or the boarding staff at least 3 days prior to the event. Authorisation will only be given if the location and event are deemed appropriate and safe in the context of the time and girls are managing their time and work load adequately. They must be back on school campus (if Boarders) by 22.30 latest and will be required to adhere to the normal School rules of behaviour and conduct whilst off campus. We will inform you by email if your daughter attends such an event.
