Alis (Sixth Form)

This guide is for importing Alis baseline predictions for year 12 pupils

Alis Spreadsheet Preparation

Step 1 - Find the latest ALIS Predictions broadsheet and save it as a separate file.

Step 2 - Make sure you are working on the "50% Percentile" tab and delete all the others to save confusion.

Step 3 - Split the StudentName column into Surname and Forename:

  1. Select the StudentName column and use Text to Columns to split the names on the ", "
  2. Create a new column next to the pupils first name and enter the following formula to remove the " " - =RIGHT(B3,LEN(B3)-1)
  3. Copy the new first name over the original, pasting values only.

Step 4 - rename the column headings to read: Surname, Forename, SchoolId

Step 5 - Delete any other columns between SchoolId and the first subject column with grades in.

Step 6 - Remove all the "A2-" in front of 

Step 7 - Use iSAMS pupil export to get a list of all year 12 and then paste in the School ID for each pupil. If you sort both by surname you can sometimes get lucky and paste in the whole lot in one go but you need to triple check so the right ID is against every pupils

ALIS Import

  1. Open the Tracking module on iSAMS
  2. Go to External Data tab at the top
  3. Click on Import External Data
  4. Chose the external data type as Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet
  5. Choose file and find the file to be imported
  6. Click Next Step
  7. On the Match Subjects - Step 2 Screen, go through the list of Subject Match column and make sure all the subjects are matched correctly.
  8. Match Students - Step 3 you need to check non matched students. The quickest way is to check against DOB after typing part of their name.
  9. Confirm Import - Step 4 fill out the data fields using the screenshots below as guide
