CAT (Prep School)

Cat Testing results normally come in various formats.  The first stage is to get them into a spreadsheet in the correct format.  They then can be imported into iSAMS

Part 1 - Prepare the spreadsheet for import

Step 1 - Create a spreadsheet with the following columns.  They must be written exactly as shown below

Step 2 - Add the pupil name and CAT scores.

Step 3 - Look up and enter each pupils SchoolID.  The SchoolID is a long number that can be viewed in the general tab of pupil manager on iSAMS when viewing each pupil

Step 4 - Save the spreadsheet somewhere you can access later.  It should now look like this:

Part 2 - Import the data into iSAMS

Step 1 - Open the Tracking module on iSAMS

Step 2 - Click on External data at the top

Step 3 - Click on Import External Data on the right hand side

Step 4 - For External Data Type choose Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet

Step 5 - Click on the document with a green arrow to browse for the spreadsheet you created in Part 1

Step 6 - Click Import External Data and wait whilst it processes the file

Step 7 - Click on Next Step

Step 8 - Verify that the next screen looks the same as below then click Next Step

Step 9 - Check that all the pupils have been matched, for any that are unmatched, use the button to search for the correct pupil.  If your SchoolID's are correct then all pupils should match automatically

Step 10 - Click Next Step

Step 11 - Modify the information for the import so that it matches the following format EXACTLY.  Failure to do this will result in the basedata not being properly displayed in the tracking grids

Import Name - Academic Year Start/End - CAT - Year/s XXXX

  • 2019/20 - CAT - Year 6
  • 2020/21 - CAT - Years 4-6

Import Code - CATS

Step 12 - Click Import Data once done

You can now view the tracking grids to verify that the new data is being displayed correctly.  If unsure contact IT Services who will help with troubleshooting.
