Ice-Skating, Bath Christmas Market, Decorating and Football
A weekend full of festive fun was enjoyed by the Sanderson community this week with trips to both the ice-skating rink at Cribbs Causeway and the magical Christmas Market in the historic city of Bath.
Boarders were able to demonstrate their balance and grace on the ice, with only a few tumbles amongst much merriment and laughter. It was a fantastic opportunity for some to experience ice skating for the first time and though slightly tentative at the start, they were whizzing around with the rest by the end of the afternoon, and all had a wonderful time during this ever-popular trip.
Eri, Y9: “Ice-skating was really fun. Some people fell down, but we all helped each other up and had a laugh.”
Kodama, Y9: “I hadn’t done ice-skating in a while so I really enjoyed it!”
Sanderson joined the 6th Form in their annual trip to Bath Christmas Market on Sunday. A sensory overload and feast for the eyes with lights, colour, smells of delicious food and festive spices all set under the spires of Bath Abbey and around the neighbouring streets and squares of the old city centre. Boarders were able to indulge in festive treats, peruse the stalls of artisan makers, find those Secret Santa presents and gifts for loved ones, as well as take in the busy and vibrant atmosphere.
Joriah, Y10: “The Christmas Market had some really good food! I enjoyed spending time there with my friends, shopping, eating and socialising.”
Katharina, Y11: “I liked the beautiful decorations and the Christmas atmosphere!”
Those that remained in house, did not miss out on some pre-Christmas fun. Members of Year 10 along with Miss Stewart, decorated the main common room Christmas tree, settling on an elegant gold, blue and silver theme. Others took the opportunity to go shopping within boundaries, to wrap gifts, listen to Christmas tunes and have a good catch up. In the evening, the Spanish girls in house enjoyed watching the football game against Germany in the common room.
