Uploading an Existing File to Teams

There are many ways to get your files onto Teams.  The quickest and easiest way is to simply create all new documents in Teams, in the correct location.  Despite that, there will always be occasions where you need to upload a file to Teams from your computer or perhaps from an email you have been sent.

Uploading from your local Computer

Step 1 - Open Teams and Navigate to the correct Team and Channel

Step 2 - Navigate into the folder where you wish to upload the file.

Step 3 - Click on the Upload button at the top of the window

Step 4 - Find the file you wish to upload from your local computer.

Uploading from an Email

Step 1 - Save the file somewhere handy on your local computer, the desktop works as a temporary space so you can delete it afterwards.

Step 2 - Follow the guide above to upload to Teams

Uploading from your One Drive or another Team

This can be the trickiest part but there are two ways of achieving this.  The first way is the best but can take a while to get used to.

Step 1 - Find the file in your one drive or Team files.

Step 2 - Click on the three dots next to the file or folder and then choose Move or Copy

Step 3 - Find the new location for where you want the file to be stored and click ok.

Backup Option

Step 1 - Download the file from one drive or Teams onto your local computer

Step 2 - Upload to Teams as if it was a local file.
