Creating a Live Event

The first step in a live event is to create it in teams and invite your presenters or other producers.

Step 1 - Go to the calendar tab in Teams

Step 2 - In the top right corner click on the arrow next to New Meeting and choose Live Event

Step 3 - Fill out the event details and add your presenters and producers.

  • A presenter can talk and share their video during the event but cannot control the event.
  • A producer can talk and share video but in addition has full control over which video is being sent to the live feed.  They also control when the event starts and stops.

Step 4 - Click next to go to the next page (you can modify or add people later)

Step 5 - Choose the event Permissions

  • People and groups - allows you to specify which people can watch the event
  • Org-Wide - Anyone in the School with a login and the link can watch the event (this is the most commonly used)
  • Public - Anyone with the link can watch the event.  Use this if parents or people outside of the School network need to view.

Step 6 - Review the Settings for the event.

You have to enable the Q&A function if you need it.  Leave everything else on defaults.

Step 7 - Click Schedule to save the event.  You can go back and edit the event at any point to review or edit the settings.
