Changing Screen Resolution

On most occasions windows will automatically detect the best resolution for any connected monitor or projector.  Running the correct resolution makes sure that every pixel your computer is rendering, directly matches up with a pixel on the monitor or projector.

If you're resolution is to large for the display, you will see everything as blurred and very small.  If it is to small then everything will be very large and also quite blurred.  Use this guide to change the resolution for any monitor and how to find out the recommended resolution for each display.

Step 1 - Right Click on any free space on your windows desktop.

Step 2 - Click on Display Settings

Step 3 - Scroll down to the setting "Display Resolution"

Step 4 - Make sure you are on the (Recommended) resolution.  If the recommended resolution is still not good, play around with different options until you find one that fits best.  If unsure, speak to network services who can help.  For most School monitors 1920 x 1080 is the most common resolution and the projectors are 1280 x 800.

Step 5 - When you change the resolution windows will give you 15 seconds to confirm the new settings or it will automatically revert.

Step 6 - If you have more than one monitor you can select each one at the top of the page.

If you are set to Duplicate your screen to both monitors at the same time, it may be impossible to find a resolution that is good for both screens so a compromise might need to be had.
